You have had a good run on your blog of ideas for quite some time but, as it happens to everyone, you have run into a creative brick wall. So, you decide to search the internet for ideas and come up empty. How do you find fresh materials for your blog? Here are just a few of the ways I come up with ideas for new posts.

  1. By far my biggest source for blogging fodder is paying attention to the news. For some reason some of the most successful blogs are commentary and editorial in nature, so you really cannot go wrong with this type of material. There is bound to be someone out there that agrees with your assessments of a news item. Better yet, those who disagree.
  2. Over the past year, the popularity of Twitter (http://twitter NULL.com) has grown with leaps and bounds, as such, you can harvest this wealth of chatter through searching the “hash tags” (those words preceded by the # symbol) on any given topic. Keep your attention on a narrow focus because it is easy to become distracted with the flow of the conversations.
  3. Social tagging sites like StumbleUpon (http://www NULL.stumbleupon NULL.com/) and Digg (http://www NULL.digg NULL.com) are also a great resource for finding ideas. Again, like Twitter, it is easy to become distracted, so try and stay focused on your topic.
  4. One of the oldest and apparently falling into disuse ways of getting ideas is in the form of Memes. These are usually some sort of question another blogger poses on his or her blog and invites their fellow bloggers to respond either in comments or, and this is where it can help you out, on the respondent’s blog. Either way, some link love can occur and benefit both parties in that respect. Another form of Meme is a theme of the day such as “Wordless Wednesday (http://wordlesswednesday NULL.com/)” where bloggers are encouraged to post an image that reflects a given theme; original images are more desirable than snagging them from the net.
  5. A place I find a treasure trove of idea for “From My Armchair” is Yahoo! Answers (http://answers NULL.yahoo NULL.com). If your blog has a very narrow focus, you can find all sorts of blogging fodder just by browsing through the questions that are posted in neatly segregated categories. You can also establish a little bit of traffic by posting links to your blog that might be useful in answering someone’s question. The fun on this site is finding the good questions amongst the fluff.
  6. Question of the Day sites are useful as well. One such site is Plinky (http://plinky NULL.com). They have some great questions and you can post your answers on the community site as well as your blog. Another source for this type of material is LiveJournal (http://www NULL.livejournal NULL.com/). I keep an account on there just to look at the Question of Day which can be found in the administration panel.

There are many other places to discover topics for your blog; these are just a few that I use. I hope this has helped you discover new topics for your blog.

Getting traffic to a blog isn’t easy huh? I remember when I first started. lol I was really BAD! I spent hundreds buying fake traffic from scammers at DP. I tried email scams (where I was scammed, of course). I even hired an Indian seo guru. lolol I’m still learning the art of blog/site traffic, but Jesus I’ve come a long ways. So can you share any secrets on how you increaded your readership? I just posted something about rapid mass traffic (cheap, targeted traffic) that you may want to check out when you can here. Mind me asking how many daily visitors you’re up to man?

I’m not into bogging for readership. If I get readers, cool. If not, doesn’t bother me much. Becoming a popular blogger takes lots of hard work and luck. There are no shortcuts.

Too many people are enticed to walk around feeling indifferent, tired or bored, but God made us for so much more! He fashioned us to be a piece of something larger than ourselves. He bids us to love Him with our entire hearts and serve Him with all that we’ve been given. It’s feasible to be fiery without intent just as it’s possible to have passion but lack aim. That is why learning your intention and passion are important to experiencing the life God projected for you.
