Reflections on Relationship

Love relationships are part of our lives, occasionally they rip us apart inside. I find writing helps in those situations.

The world was against us
We did not stand a chance
The virus disrupted our plans
Our hearts were doomed by circumstance

Time was against us
Lives that were on opposite ends of the clock
Dreams and hopes never to be made manifest
Our feelings flung on the chopping block

The world was against us
By no choice of our own
The taste of love should never have come
For now on the wind it has flown

When the heart reaches through the void
When cupid’s sting has purged itself from the soul
When worlds are misaligned
That is when the psyche shatters to pieces
Pain in this form eventually fades
More star-crossed entanglements are beyond the horizon
We each must face the onslaught
To grow beyond that which wounds so deep
